Our Background Story

Empowering Through Education: Our Story

Elimu Ni Thamani traces its roots back to Hands Up Education in Action, a grassroots organization driven by a passion for empowering orphaned and vulnerable children through education.

Founded in Nakuru East sub-county, our journey began with voluntary remedial classes, life skills training, and counseling sessions targeting children in schools, remand homes, and church-based institutions such as Mwangaza Rehabilitation Center and St. Francis Rehabilitation Center. Despite facing financial challenges and setbacks, our dedicated team continued to serve the community, eventually evolving into Elimu Ni Thamani. This transformation marked a new chapter in our commitment to addressing the multifaceted needs of children living in poverty, exploitation, and neglect, particularly in the Bondeni slum area.

Our Achievements

Elimu Ni Thamani has achieved remarkable milestones in our ongoing mission to empower orphaned and vulnerable children through education and support.
Our feeding program has been instrumental in ensuring that over 200 vulnerable children receive nutritious meals, addressing hunger and reducing absenteeism in schools significantly. This initiative has paved the way for the provision of counseling services, where vulnerable children and their parents receive much-needed support to navigate through trauma, addiction, and mental health challenges.
Through counseling, we have witnessed remarkable transformations as children and parents alike emerge stronger, equipped with essential skills to cope with life’s stresses and prioritize their mental well-being. Moreover, our efforts have led to a tangible impact on education, with students returning to school with renewed determination and a vision for a brighter future. These achievements underscore our commitment to making a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve.
